Trump made the remarks while addressing the Republican Party’s convention in Dallas, Texas, where he urged party members to mobilise their relatives, friends and other voters ahead of the elections.
“You know what happens if you don’t vote? You go to hell,” Trump told the crowd before leading supporters in a pledge to vote.
The president also urged Republicans to “try and cheat like hell” while repeating his allegations that Democrats engage in widespread electoral fraud.
Trump used the address to highlight what he described as the achievements of his administration, including the performance of the stock market, lower prescription drug prices, increased military spending and a decline in illegal border crossings.
“In 19 months, I’ve delivered on every single promise I’ve made,” he said.
He also presented the midterm elections as a referendum on his administration, warning that a Democratic victory could reverse what he described as progress made under his leadership.
Trump accused Democrats of seeking to confiscate personal wealth, undermine Texas’ oil and gas industry and allow criminals to “rob, rape and kill.”
Vice President JD Vance also urged Republicans to defend their congressional majorities, warning voters against handing control of the country to Democrats over disagreements on individual policy issues.
“Don’t give the country over to a bunch of crazy people because you happen to disagree with us on a policy issue here or there,” Vance said.
